About Us

Our Story

In 2021, a group of 27 college ministers (and 5 kids!) from the Acts2 Network (formerly Gracepoint Ministries) moved from Berkeley, CA to University City with the vision of planting an Acts 2 community for college students in Philadelphia.

Why?

Because we want college students everywhere to experience what we experienced in college. Many of us weren't Christians growing up but became convinced Christianity is true in college. Others grew up religious, but didn't find God or the Bible relevant until we were college students. But all of us encountered God personally and were transformed as we experienced life as He intended - closely connected to him and to others.

Being in college - that season of life when you're figuring out who you are and what you're doing with your life - was a key part of our spiritual journey. And we hope it will be for yours, too!

Our Community

Christian life isn't limited to just going to Sunday gatherings. Instead, we share daily life, cook, hang out, work hard to serve others, and have fun, together - like a spiritual family.

Our Pastoral Couple

Our church leads, Pastor James Han and his wife Mary, have just moved back to the States after serving as missionaries in Asia. Before leading a mission team overseas, they served in college ministry at UC Berkeley, in California, planted a church in North Carolina, and co-founded a national Christian youth ministry network. Most importantly, their lives have been saved and shaped by the grace of Jesus Christ. This year, we are grateful that they've joined Story College Church, not too far from where Mary grew up!

What made you want to serve as a minister?

Jesus gave my life meaning. Now I get the chance to share this hope we have in Him. And this mission never gets old.

Our Ministry Mentors

Having a mentor just a couple steps ahead of you is an important part of Christian life. All of our volunteer mentors are covocational - meaning they're full-time college ministers, who are also full-time software engineers, healthcare professionals, grad students, and more. Get to know us; we'd love to get to know you!

If I could open any kind of shop/business...

I would open up a cafe bookstore with little excerpts everywhere of existential questions and answers from across science fiction, cinema, and internet culture. It would sell books addressing these questions from different scientific, religious, and philosophical perspectives, classified by which Big Question they are trying to answer.

I would probably open something similar to a cafe or teashop where people can study and eat food. Additionally, I would want the food to be able to accommodate a range of diets/dietary restrictions but still taste yummy :)
